Effective androgen therapy requires either the administration of testosterone in a slowly absorbed form (dermal patches or micronised oral preparation) or the oral or parenteral administration of chemically modified analogues.
Gonadotrophin therapy is utilised to establish or restore fertility in patients with gonadotrophin deficiency of all causes.
GnRH (gonadorelin) is available for endocrine testing and has been tried for chronic therapy of hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism.
